Resumo: Welded joints have great importance in the fatigue analysis of structures subjected to cyclic loading, being that design engineers and industries have interest in reliable methods that can be used to obtain the parameters for the fatigue analysis, such as the materials properties and methods for obtaining the stresses in the welded regions, in order to determine the life cycle of the structure or mechanical component with adequate reliability. This work introduces a hybrid approach for obtaining S–N curves with reduced number of tests associated to statistically simulated data. In order to validate the proposal, two validation process were developed. One using a methodology to generate S–N curves based on Monte Carlo simulations and other using actual data available in the literature, allowing to compare the hybrid approach with the experimental curve S–N obtained with high replication. In both validation process, a good accuracy was verified. Subsequently, the fatigue analysis of a fillet welded joint was carried out using finite element analysis to evaluate the cumulative damage and fatigue life, enabling comparison between the proposed method and standard NBR 8800: 2008. The results obtained with the proposed methodology allowed more accuracy results and less conservative than standard for the same weld detail class, both for fatigue life and for cumulative fatigue damage evaluations.

Portanto, é do interesse dos engenheiros e das indústrias de um modo geral, que no projeto de tais estruturas, se utilizem metodologias confiáveis para obtenção dos parâmetros para a análise de fadiga, tanto quanto às propriedades dos materiais, bem como, os métodos para obtenção das tensões nas regiões soldadas, a fim de determinar a vida útil da estrutura ou componente mecânico com confiabilidade adequada. Este trabalho apresenta uma abordagem híbrida para obtenção de curvas S-N com número reduzido de ensaios associados a dados estatisticamente simulados. Para validar a proposta, dois processos de validação foram desenvolvidos: um usando uma metodologia para gerar curvas S-N com base em simulações de Monte Carlo e outra usando dados reais disponíveis na literatura, a qual permite comparar a abordagem híbrida com a curva experimental S-N obtida com alta replicação. Em ambos os processos de validação, uma boa precisão foi verificada. Posteriormente, foi realizada a análise de fadiga de uma junta soldada em filete utilizando análise de elementos finitos para avaliar o dano cumulativo e a vida em fadiga, possibilitando a comparação entre o método proposto e a curva S-N definida pela norma NBR 8800:2008. Os resultados obtidos com a metodologia proposta permitiram previsões mais precisas e menos conservadores do que as obtidas quando a norma NBR 8800 é usada para a mesma classe de detalhe de solda.
