PREVALENCE OF DISEASE AND LEVEL OF PHYSICAL ACTIVITY IN ELDERLY

Resumo: Ageing has become a phenomena most evident in contemporary societies. To this end, the objective of this study was to identify the most prevalent and the level of physical activity among the elderly in the municipality of Ignacio Martins-PR. The sample consisted of 41 individuals over 60 years, who attended the Family Health Program, the average age of participants was 69.41 ± 6.28 years ranging from 60 to 88 years. Data collection was performed in two steps, first was a survey of diseases from the Municipal Department of Health and secondly an interview was conducted at home for the elderly to assess level of physical activity (IPAQ-long version) and aspects related to drug use and involvement falls. To characterize the variables were used descriptive statistics procedures. The results showed in relation to diseases, which the study population, most have some kind of disease and high blood pressure the most prevalent (29%) when asked about the level of physical activity was detected that most of the elderly was considered more assets (90.2%), with more time devoted to physical activities in the domestic (886 min / week) for the use of medication 92.7% say they use daily and how much involvement by the falls a minority (17, 1%) said they experienced falls in the year to research. Thus, it was noted that the study population had a higher prevalence of disease and were considered the most active, especially at home.

Diante disso, o objetivo do presente estudo foi identificar as doenças mais frequentes e o nível de atividade física em um grupo de idosos atendidos pelo Programa Saúde da Família (PSF) do município de Inácio Martins - PR. Participaram do estudo 41 idosos acima de 60 anos, atendidos pelo PSF, com idade média de 69,41± 6,28 anos, variando entre 60 e 88 anos. A coleta de dados foi realizada em duas etapas: inicialmente, foi feito um levantamento das doenças junto à Secretaria Municipal de Saúde e, num segundo momento, foi realizada uma entrevista no domicílio do idoso para verificar o nível de atividade física (IPAQ – versão longa) e aspectos relacionados ao consumo de medicamentos e ao acometimento por quedas. Para caracterização das variáveis, foram empregados procedimentos da estatística descritiva. Quanto aos medicamentos, 92,7% dos idosos afirmaram fazer uso diário, e quanto ao acometimento por quedas, uma minoria (17,1%) afirmou que ter sofrido queda no ano anterior à investigação. A maioria dos idosos investigados tem algum tipo de doença, sendo a hipertensão arterial a mais prevalente (29%). Quando interrogados sobre o nível de atividade física, detectou-se que a maior parte dos participantes foi categorizada como “mais ativo” (90,2%), com um tempo maior dedicado às atividades físicas no âmbito doméstico (886 min/semana). Sendo assim, observou-se que os idosos investigados apresentaram elevada prevalência de doenças e foram considerados mais ativos, principalmente no âmbito doméstico.
