Resumo: The region of the Sao Francisco Valley is marked by sexist values that end up being reinforced by health professionals. To perpetuate inequalities of gender, these professionals puts at risk young people in front of the STD/Aids. This article aims to discuss the production of meaning about gender and sexuality of the subject and its implications for the prevention of STD/Aids, with the teen audience. As theoretical and methodological support, we used a qualitative approach in health and social constructionism. Focus groups were conducted, observations and interviews participants in family health units in the cities of Petrolina (PE) and Juazeiro (BA). The results indicate the need for effective action of sex education to guide young people as they remain sexist ideas, and demonstrate knowledge about ways of preventing STD/Aids. With respect to health care professionals, it is observed its significant difficulty in working with sexuality in adolescence, and rethink the discourse bioreducionista primary education and banking, as coping strategies for STD/Aids.
