Social Representations of Communitarian Health’s Agents about AIDS

Resumo: This research had as objective to gather the social representations (RS) of Communitarian Health’s Agents (ACS’s) regarding AIDS. Seventy ACS’s of both genders and average age of 26 years participated in this study. It was utilized as instruments the Test of Free Association of Words (TALP) and semi-structured interviews. The material collected by the TALP was processed by the Tri-deux-mots software through the factorial analysis of correspondence whereas the material from the interviews was categorized by the thematic analysis of the content. The results indicated the Acquired Immunodeficiency Syndrome (AIDS) was anchored to the Sexually Transmitted Diseases (DST’s) and it is represented as an incurable disease in which the suffering is embraced by the imminent death as well as by the prejudice. The main ways of transmission were oral sex, anal sex, contaminated syringes, blood transfusion and maternal milk. The prevention includes the use of condoms, seminars, information and family’s support. It is necessary the conception of public policies of education and promotion in health for the ACS’s with the aim of make it available the theoretical-practical resources for the prevention against DST’s and AIDS.

Participaron 70 ACS’s, de ambos sexos, con media de edad de 26 años. Fueron utilizados como instrumentos, el Test de Asociación Libre de Palabras (TALP) y entrevistas semi-estructuradas. El material colectado por el TALP fue procesado por el software Tri-deux-mots, a partir del análisis factorial de correspondencia, y el de la entrevista fue categorizado por el análisis temático de contenido. Los resultados indicaron que el Síndrome de Inmunodeficiencia Adquirida (SIDA) fue ancorado en las Enfermedades Sexualmente Transmisibles (EST’s), siendo representada como una enfermedad incurable y que el sufrimiento atraviesa por la muerte inminente, así como por el preconcepto. Las principales formas de transmisión fueron el sexo oral, el sexo anal, jeringuillas contaminadas, transfusión sanguínea y la leche materna. La prevención pasa por el uso de preservativo, conferencias, informaciones y apoyo familiar. Se hace necesario la formulación de políticas públicas de educación y de promoción en salud para los ACS’s, con la intención de disponibilizar recursos teórico-prácticos en la prevención de las EST’s y Sida.Esta pesquisa teve como objetivo apreender as representações sociais (RS) de agentes comunitários de saúde (ACSs) acerca da aids. Participaram 70 ACSs, de ambos os sexos, com média de idade de 26 anos. Foram utilizados, como instrumentos, o Teste de Associação Livre de Palavras (TALP) e entrevistas semi-estruturadas. O material coletado pelo TALP foi processado pelo software Tri-deux-mots, por meio da análise fatorial de correspondência, e o da entrevista foi categorizado pela análise temática de conteúdo. Os resultados indicaram que a Síndrome de Imunodeficiência Adquirida (AIDS) foi ancorada nas Doenças Sexualmente Transmissíveis (DST’s), sendo representada como uma doença incurável e que o sofrimento perpassa pela morte iminente, assim como pelo preconceito. As principais formas de transmissão foram o sexo oral, o sexo anal, seringas contaminadas, transfusão sanguínea e o leite materno. A prevenção passa pelo uso da camisinha, palestras, informações e apoio familiar.
