Resumo: | The antenatal care is an important strategy to ensure maternal and baby health. The aim of the present qualitative study was to describe the experience of South Brazilian pregnant adolescents with antenatal care. Fourteen primiparae adolescents were met, during their second trimester of pregnancy, in public health services of the Vale dos Sinos/RS (Brazil) area, where they attended to antenatal care. Participants were 13 to 18 years old. data were collected through an open‑ended, semi‑structured interview. Results showed that pregnant adolescents attended to antenatal care from the very beginning of their pregnancy, and in an assiduous way. Adolescents seemed to be involved in this activity, and relatives accompanied them to medical appointments and examinations. The relationship with health professionals and the quality of antenatal care they received was described as positive by participants. The present topic deserves further investigation, in particular the needs that expectant adolescents might present about pregnancy unfolding and delivery. |

El cuidado prenatal es una estrategia importante para asegurar la salud materna e infantil. Este estudio cualitativo describe las experiencias de adolescentes embarazadas con la atención prenatal. Participaron 14 adolescentes que estaban en el segundo trimestre de su primer embarazo y que realizaron su seguimiento prenatal en unidades básicas de salud de la región del Vale dos Sinos/RS, Brasil. Las participantes tenían entre 13 y 18 años de edad. los datos fueron colectados por medio de una entrevista semi‑estructurada. El análisis de los datos puso en evidencia el início temprano de la atención prenatal y su realización de modo asíduo. Las adolescentes se involucraron activamente y muchas veces venían acompañadas por sus familiares. La relación con los profesionales de salud fue considerada positiva por las participantes, que expresaron su satisfacción ante los cuidados recibidos. Investigaciones futuras que aborden aspectos tales como las necesidades que presentan las adolescentes durante el embarazo y el parto son aún necesarias. O acompanhamento pré-natal é uma estratégia importante para garantir a saúde materno-infantil. Este estudo qualitativo objetivou descrever as experiências de adolescentes gaúchas com o acompanhamento pré-natal. Participaram 14 adolescentes que estavam no segundo trimestre de sua primeira gestação e realizavam tal acompanhamento em unidades básicas de saúde da região do Vale dos Sinos/RS (Brasil). A idade das participantes variou de 13 a 18 anos. Os dados foram coletados por meio de uma entrevista semi-estruturada. A análise revelou o início precoce do acompanhamento pré-natal e sua realização de maneira assídua. As adolescentes demonstraram envolvimento com essa atividade, sendo acompanhadas por familiares. A relação com os profissionais de saúde foi considerada positiva pelas participantes, que manifestaram seu contentamento em relação aos cuidados deles recebidos. Sugere-se que novos estudos investiguem essa temática, abordando aspectos como as necessidades apresentadas pelas adolescentes acerca da gestação e do parto.
