PARENT ORIENTATION PROGRAM: HOW TO STIMULATE PREMATURE BABIES’ LANGUAGE

Resumo: Abstract: It has been demonstrated that the development of good linguistic abilities during the first years of life, resulting from an intimate verbal interaction between children and their parents, facilitates reading acquisition. If all children need to be stimulated in order to have a good cognitive development, this is even more necessary in the case of premature babies. Apart from the biological risk, they are also subject to hazard coming from an environment that may not be stimulating enough. A guiding program for parents was developed on how to stimulate the children’s language from birth, so that he may in the future learn to read well. We tested this program on a sample of parents of preterm children. Of the participants, 98.92% affirmed that they learned new information and all of them declared that it is possible to apply the acquired knowledge on a daily basis, evidencing thus a comprise with the facilitation of the linguistic development of their children. In this article we discuss this extramural experience.Keywords: language; learning; reading; training; premature birth.

In this article we discuss this extramural experience.Keywords: language; learning; reading; training; premature birth.Resumen: Durante los primeros años de vida, ha sido mostrado que el desarrollo de buenas habilidades lingüísticas, decurrentes de una íntima interacción verbal entre el niño y sus padres, predice la facilidad de aprendizaje de la lectura. El estímulo se hace aún más presente en los niños prematuros. Además del riesgo biológico, ellos están sujetos al riesgo de un ambiente poco estimulante. Desarrollamos un programa de orientación para los padres sobre como estimular la lenguaje de su hijo desde el nacimiento para que él pueda, en el futuro, aprender a leer bien. Los resultados muestran que 98,92% de los padres dicen que han aprendido nuevas informaciones y todos los encuestados afirmaron la posibilidad de aplicar las informaciones adquiridas en el curso en sus vidas cotidianas, mostrando conciencia en la promoción del desarrollo del linguaje en niños. Con ese artículo discutiremos esa experiencia.Palabras clave: lenguaje; aprendizage; lectura; capacitación; nascimiento prematuro.Durante os primeiros anos de vida, o desenvolvimento de boas habilidades linguísticas, decorrentes de uma íntima interação verbal entre a criança e seus pais, prediz a facilidade de aprendizagem da leitura. Se toda criança precisa de estimulação para um desenvolvimento cognitivo eficaz, tal necessidade aumenta em crianças nascidas pré-termo. Essas crianças, além do risco biológico, estão sujeitas também ao risco de um ambiente (tanto hospitalar quanto familiar) pouco estimulante. Foi desenvolvido um programa de orientação para pais sobre como estimular a linguagem do filho desde o nascimento, para que ele possa, no futuro, aprender a ler bem. Testamos esse programa em uma amostra de pais de crianças pré-termo. Dos participantes, 98,92% afirmaram ter aprendido novas informações, e todos disseram ser possível aplicar os conhecimentos adquiridos no cotidiano, evidenciando, portanto, comprometimento com a facilitação do desenvolvimento linguístico dos filhos.
