Resumo: This thesis aims to reflect on the film Interstellar (2014) , directed by Christopher Nolan. This study sought to understand the dialogue between the concept of Arts - focusing on Science Fiction cinema and Sciences of Nature. At this point, it is important to consider the relation between the social imaginary and its representations to understanding this study . The main purpose is to explore the issues that stand the social imaginary, used as support of reasoning in Science Fiction films, leaving an implicit or explicit message to the viewer. Interstellar film explores this imaginary pattern to urge the discussion about morals and ethics that lead to exploring natural resources, so important to humanity's existence. The intention is to warn about a possible disastrous scenario in the future, if humanity is no longer concerned about Earth limits to tolerate this inconsequential behaviour. This study intends to show Science Fiction cinema also as a way of representing a kind of escape from our planet, even in an uncertain future. Therefore, a brief overview of Cosmology was proposed and there is a discussion about theories conducted by the narrative, exploring the use of Science in Art scenario and identifying a connection between these dialogues. All analyses were taken for presenting the film’s plot, followed by the characters’ analysis, by the soundtrack’s role and by the opinion of national and international critics about the object. Finally, a discussion was opened to expand the understanding of imaginary, utopia and dystopia as a reflection of the movie’s plot, corroborating that the dialogue between Art and Science is always positive, being Interstellar film an example, not unique, but very original of this proposition.

Entende-se que nesta ponte há a interferência direta do imaginário social e suas representações, assim a intenção é a de explorar as questões que permeiam o referido imaginário e são utilizadas como discurso em filmes de ficção científica, que tecem uma mensagem implícita ou explícita ao espectador. Interestelar utiliza-se deste imaginário e chama para o debate a moral e a ética sobre o uso que fazemos dos recursos naturais, tão caros a nossa existência. É um aviso sobre um possível cenário futuro, caso não sejamos mais conscientes ao utilizar os recursos naturais que nosso planeta nos fornece. Buscamos evidenciar que o cinema de ficção científica é, também, um recurso utilizado por nós como uma maneira de representar a fuga de nosso planeta, ainda que em um futuro incerto. Traçamos um breve panorama da cosmologia e discutimos as teorias utilizadas pela narrativa, explorando o uso das ciências pelas artes e fizemos um paralelo entre este diálogo. Na sequência, foi apresentado o enredo do filme e feita uma análise sobre as personagens, a trilha sonora e a opinião da crítica nacional e internacional a respeito do objeto. Por fim, abrimos uma discussão sobre o imaginário, a utopia e a distopia como reflexos da narrativa da obra e concluímos que o diálogo entre arte e ciência é sempre positivo, sendo que Interestelar é
