Resumo: | The modern subject present in large cities is affected in their daily lives by the standardization of social life. The actions are dynamic and there is no time for reflection. In a sophisticated and institutionally structured rationalization, the exercise of reason and freedom is limited. How to question the control legitimized by an economic and social system? In his work “Sociological Imagination” (1959), sociologist Charles Wright Mills, presents questions to the modern subject. Mills proposes the practice of “Sociological Imagination”. Through the exercise of denaturalization, the subjects could understand their biographies in confrontation with the historical context and the trajectory of the collective in which they belong. “Imagination sociology” is a method that can provoke reflections through reason and freedom, these actions have the potential for social transformation. The main objective of this research is to identify in the trajectory of the subjects, which moments are reflective in their social actions? This exercise would be a way to think with “Sociological Imagination”. Is it possible that the Mills method is identified in the practice of collective actions? This research does not propose an individual self-analysis; therefore, we seek to understand how the subjects identify themselves in historical contexts where the space of “public action” is a path for insurgent transformation practices. The political leaders of social movements claim the space for public debate, they perform in their biographies, actions deviating from the structural standards. Their actions elaborate the tactics of social movements and these influence their biographies. We researched the actions of the “Movement of the homeless from downtown” - MSTC in contrast to the public biography of its social leadership, Carmen Silva, operating in the city of São Paulo. MSTC members transform the struggle for housing into a network of demands for the right to exist with freedom. The narratives of Carmen Silva and the actions of MSTC, face the clashes and occupy spaces, where they imagine with reason and freedom. With insurgent action tactics we can observe the use of art as an element of awareness and symbolic combat. The members of the MSTC and the leadership Carmen Silva, make up a network of knowledge and knowledge production, they analyze the historical context and formulate actions in their political clashes. Recognizing them allows us to understand the social processes in our modern society. |

Recognizing them allows us to understand the social processes in our modern society.O sujeito moderno presente nas grandes metrópoles, é afetado em seu cotidiano pela padronização da vida social.
