This work studies some textual dialogues established between the novel The Gospel According to Jesus Christ, written by the Portuguese José Saramago, and the biblical narrative, taken as a document that records the historical path of Jesus Christ. For a closer examination of the work of Saramago, who among other possibilities is configured as an expression of a contemporary historical novel, it was based on critical as Marlise Vaz Bridi and Waldecy Tenorio and experts and theorists of the historical novel as Alcmeno Bastos and Linda Hutcheon. The critical-interpretative analysis of the novel, understood as a way necessary for a proper examination of the work, was given from the selection of excerpts which forms thematic blocks. The analysis of the excerpts look for elucidate the discursive mechanisms that raise a reflective eye and allow to identify the multiple dialogues between different and at the same time complementary texts.
