This paper is a record on the forms of appropriation of privately owned public spaces in the city of São Paulo. Studying this theme proves to be relevant, as it exposes facts on social exchange relations and social coexistence – shedding light on lessons in civility and respect for others. Therefore, the purpose of this research is to explore the offices buildings – Brascan Century Plaza and Patio Victor Malzoni - that open up to the city through ground floor architectures, proposing communal areas that integrate the public and private domains, initiating dialogues that encompass different urban interfaces. Thus, it is possible to see how the physical-spatial configurations of this typology can contribute and print out new possibilities of perception and experimentation in cities, by its residents and visitors. The ground floor, in this sense, can be identified as the element and the appropriate urban tool aiming the insertion of spaces of common use in the city, as well as fundamental to promote better conditions of public fruition.
