Resumo: Virgínia Woolf, in her work, express and anticipates with lyricism, irony and intuition, anguish, contradiction and entanglement of the history, culture, customs and writing of her time. Through erudition and experimentalism makes the study of his work a constant discovery, the analysis of her conceptions of the world and Art, an inexhaustible source of information and formation. Orlando (1928) presents a parodie biography of a young man hving for three centuries without aging, always carrying an unfinished poem on his chest. Within this aesthetic proposal, Woolf destabilizes the reader by ending the illusion that time and space are fixed units, blurring the boundaries between action and reflection. ln a refinement of experimentalism, she transforms the categories of time, action and space by evoking elements of mythic time, while symbolically deconstructs the opposition between male and female. The general objective of this PhD. Dissertation is to problematize the meaning relations ofVirginia Woolfs writing in Orlando. The general hypothesis is that the imagery contained in a literary work is related to the author's aesthetic choices and the identity characteristics and literary skills that define it, highlighting the aspects of the Spirit of the Age that influenced it.

Por meio de erudição e experimentalismo toma o estudo de sua obra uma constante descoberta, a análise de suas concepções de mundo e de arte, um inesgotável manancial de informação e de formação. Orlando (1928) apresenta a biografia paródica de um jovem nobre que vive por três séculos sem envelhecer, sempre carregando no peito um poema não terminado. Dentro dessa proposta estética, Woolf desestabiliza o leitor ao acabar com a ilusão de que tempo e espaço são unidades fixas, confundindo as fronteiras entre ação e reflexão. Num requinte de experimentalismo, transforma as categorias de tempo, ação e espaço evocando elementos de tempo mítico, enquanto desconstrói simbolicamente a oposição entre masculino e feminino. O objetivo geral desta tese é problematizar as relações de sentido da escrita de Virgínia Woolf em Orlando.
