The executive functions (FE) are related to a set of cognitive processes that allow the individual to exercise control and regulate their behaviors in front of the demands and demands of the environment. Different neuropsychological tests are used to evaluate executive functions. However, it is still verified that there are few studies seeking ecological validity in multitasking conducted in real environments. The objective of the study was to investigate the performance of young people in a multitasking in the real environment involving different components of the FE, as well as to verify if the performances in these tasks are related to traditional tests used to evaluate the FE. 48 college students of both genders were assessed using a battery of neuropsychological tests and screening scales. They then underwent a real situation involving the execution of multitasking and problem solving in the search of materials in a library. The analysis of Spearman correlations show low to moderate correlations between the scores of success, efficiency and omission of the Multitarefa with tests that evaluate cognitive flexibility, being the highest values were observed for the D2, Five Digits Test and Trail Making tests. We found low to moderate correlations between time and number of fixations for reading instructions, searching for information on the shelf and picking up books. In addition, we have also found correlations between the BRIEF-A cognitive flexibility and self-control subscales and the Multitasking support score. Linear regression analysis showed that the BRIEF-A hits, 8.6% of the correctness of the self-control subscale, explain better the non-performance multitasking in the real environment.
