Despite the limitations in the use of lipids in the diet of ruminants, because they interfere in the digestion of the fiber and cause metabolic problems, researches have been developed with the objective of reducing the concentration of saturated fatty acids in milk, which is considered as one of the triggers of heart diseases, and increase the concentration of unsaturates, which are related to the fight against these diseases, as well as better energy use of the diet and reduce the environmental impact of the production system. Among the factors of interest is the increase in the concentration of conjugated linoleic acid (CLA) in milk, which is a factor promoting human health. Of the already discovered isomers, trans-10, cis-12 have been gaining prominence for presenting antiobesity properties. Thus, the increase in the concentration of this factor in products of animal origin has become a market demand, which has been looking for healthier products. CLA is naturally found in products of ruminant origin, due to the intense ruminal biohydrogenation, but the concentrations of this factor found in milk are low, and the use of vegetable oils may be a viable alternative for the manipulation of the same.
