The generation of solid waste is a problem associated with the industrial production processes of clothing, due to the volumes of waste that are produced. The objective of this research was to diagnose the solid waste management of clothing companies that work at Moda Center Santa Cruz. Theoretical aspects related to cluster, externalities, waste management and public policies about solid waste management were considered. This research is classified as qualitative-quantitative, with an exploratory and descriptive objective. A questionnaire was used to collect information; 208 companies managers contributed as respondents to this research. Regarding solid waste management practices identified in the Moda Center Santa Cruz companies, the separation practices and destination of solid waste generated by clothing were verified. The waste found to a greater extent by clothing is knitted and fabric waste. In addition, it was found that around 258.5kg of waste are generated monthly by each clothing. Products aimed at female represents the largest share of productions carried out by the companies participating in the research. Regarding public policies, it was identified that the clothing companies represented in this research have little knowledge about the policies that deal with solid waste, whether at national or local level. Finally, it was found that the companies installed in the place have limited solid waste management activities and need to expand knowledge about public policies that deal with solid waste, as well as need to improve the management activities of the generated waste.
