Resumo: | This paper work had the purposed to investigate how the Visual Design Grammar (GDV) can contribute to reading Conceptual Schemes in Parking Lot (ECPL) produced in a Biochemistry teaching context. Thus, the social actors were Biology Science’s second period students from Universidade Federal Rural de Pernambuco (UFRPE). As it consists in a theme that enables numerous articulations between biochemical and biological concepts and between these and the social and cultural context, weight loss through adherence to low carb diets was chosen to guide the sequence of classes that presented as result the elaboration of the ECPLs analyzed here. Thus, this research corpus is constituted by the production of four distinct working groups, each one of them structured two schemes, one before the classes about low carb diets and the other after. In possession of data, analysis was based on the GDV. Between the results, there was a predominance of unidirectional vectors in most schemes, even though bi and /or multidirectional processes were being portrayed. About GDV’s categories, action narrative representational subcategory prevalence was observed in the graduates' productions. Thus, the Grammar of Visual Design when associated with the specific content and ECPL’s elaboration constitutes a valid tool to monitoring learning, since it allows the teacher to measure which mental processes (definition, classification, narration) have been suppressed or even added by the students. Finally, aware that issues underlying this study may arise and given the shortage of studies that associate GDV with Science and Biology Education, we suggest that further research be realized. |

Submitted by Mario BC (mario@bc.ufrpe.br) on 2023-09-21T12:11:20Z No. of bitstreams: 1 Mariana Rayane da Silva Pontes.pdf: 11558134 bytes, checksum: 165319ce62d19f919538583515af2236 (MD5)Made available in DSpace on 2023-09-21T12:11:21Z (GMT).
