Economia solidária, extensão rural, desenvolvimento local e segurança alimentar e nutricional – algumas relações : um estudo de caso junto a cooperativa para o desenvolvimento sustentável de São Vicente Férrer-PE

This work brings to reflection the construction of possible relations among the Local Development, Agricultural Extension, Solidarity Economy and Food Security. For this proposal, we had as objectives: to analyze the social economy as a possibility for the promotion of local development, and specifically examine the role of productive segments of membership organizations to the principles of social economy, and examine practices that favor membership organizations promoting local development highlighting their contributions to the Food and Nutrition Security. These goals were intended to make it possible to subsidize the answers to our synthesis-question problem of our research: how the social economy has contributed to the Food and Nutrition Security in the perspective of local development? In search of conceptual references we work texts by authors such as Boaventura de Sousa Santos and Cesar Rodriguez, Karl Marx, José de Souza Martins, Carlos Julio Jara, Augusto Franco, Paul Singer, Paulo de Jesus, Bras Callou, Laura Duque-Arrazola and others. We decided therefore to conduct a case study involving three production segments of the Cooperative for Sustainable Development of São Vicente Férrer (the producers of the grape, banana and crafts) which represent the universe of our research and the centre of our study. The methodological procedure was also characterized by include three complementary phases, making use of different investigative tools which include: definition of the survey, literature review and data collection and data analysis. To this end, the results of this research revealed that the Cooperative for Sustainable Development of São Vicente Férrer as collective organization, despite its difficulties, has been presented as a path to potential opportunities for the promotion of Local Development and Food Safety and Nutrition in the municipality of São Vicente Férrer.
