Resumo: | We evaluated the blood and urinary biochemical and, hormone indicators in Santa Ines sheep during the final third of pregnancy, partum and postpartum period for early diagnosis of Pregnancy Toxemia (PT). A total of 50 Santa Ines sheep were distributed in three groups: Group 1 (n = 20), kept in extensive farming system feeding with low energy density diet (LEDD), Group 2 (n = 10), kept in intensive farming system feeding with high energy density diet (HEDD) and Group 3 (n = 20), diagnosed with PT from Bovine Clinical Garanhuns/UFRPE. Changes were observed in the metabolic profiles analyzed (energy, protein and urinary hormone) for Group 2 (HEDD) and ewes with PT, indicating that the changes are related to gestational period. Based on overall averages of groups, lower concentrations were found in plasma glucose and serum fructosamine, cholesterol, triglycerides, total protein, albumin, globulin, urea, creatinine, AST, GGT, ALP, insulin, estradiol, T3, T4, folic acid, vitamin B12, potassium and sodium in sheep from Group 1 (LEDD), and higher mean serum concentration of chloride and urea urinary. Blood concentrations of NEFA, β-hydroxybutyrate, cortisol, progesterone, creatinine, protein, glucose, pH and urine density did not vary with the type of farming system and their diets. In sheep with PT, plasma levels of β-hydroxybutyrate and NEFA, serum cortisol, estradiol and urea urinary, creatinine, protein and glucose proved to be good indicators of changes in metabolism in sheep affected with PT. It was also possible to prove that there is no deficiency of folic acid and vitamin B12 in sheep farming system intensive and affected PT. |

No. of bitstreams: 1 Cleyton Charles Dantas Carvalho.pdf: 3064787 bytes, checksum: 6f532c33e9202fd93152281ea69bdfc0 (MD5)Made available in DSpace on 2022-07-18T15:58:12Z (GMT). We evaluated the blood and urinary biochemical and, hormone indicators in Santa Ines sheep during the final third of pregnancy, partum and postpartum period for early diagnosis of Pregnancy Toxemia (PT). |
