Resumo: The Goyazana castelnaui is the only representative of the infraorder Brachyura with record of occurrence in the Pajeú basin, where in a stretch of the river, in the county of Floresta – PE, individuals were captured for record the data of the Cephalothorax Width (CW) throughout the year of 2014 to 2015, as well as to keep them in captivity in order to validate the growth through farming. During the farming, 36 individuals (10 males and 26 females) were kept in experimental unites with abiotic conditions similar to the natural environment. The amount of ecdysis varied between the sexes, occurring an average of eight ecdysis in the female and five in the males. The females present a slower development than the males, however they reached bigger sizes, achieving up to 5,19 cm, while the biggest male achieved 4,34 cm, as well as in the controlled farming cultivation demonstrated to be longer lasting. Among the five mathematic models utilized, according to the Akaike Information Criterion (AIC) (AKAIKE, 1974) the mathematical model that better represented the growth curve was the von Bertalanffy model, which was used to generate the growth curve, as well as to estimate the maximum longevity of the specie. The individuals of G. castelnaui in nature (males and females respectively) obtained a maximum longevity of 436 to 702 days and of 572 to 910 days, while in the farming were from 378 to 581 days and from 402 to 618 days.

Durante o cultivo, 36 indivíduos (10 machos e 26 fêmeas) foram mantidos em unidades experimentais com condições abióticas semelhantes ao ambiente natural. A quantidade de ecdises em cativeiro variou entre os sexos, ocorrendo em média oito mudas entre as fêmeas e cinco entre os machos. As fêmeas apresentam um desenvolvimento mais lento que os machos, porém atingiram maiores tamanhos, alcançando até 5,19 cm, enquanto que o maior macho atingiu 4,34 cm, bem como em ambiente de cultivo controlado demonstraram serem mais longevas. Dentre cinco modelos matemáticos testados, segundo o Critério de informação de Akaike (AIC) (AKAIKE, 1974), o modelo matemático que melhor representou a curva de crescimento foi o modelo de von Bertalanffy, o qual foi utilizado para gerar a curva de crescimento, bem como estimar a longevidade máxima da espécie.
