Resumo: Two experiments were conducted in order to evaluate the apparent digestibility of dry matter and nutrients using the LIPE® external indicator in sheep fed diets containing the following foods available for ruminants in Agreste of Pernambuco: cactus pear, bean residue (experiment 1) and, scrapes cassava and elephant grass mature (experiment 2). They were used for each experiment eight male sheep Santa Inês, castrated, rumen, with average body weight of 50 kg. To estimate fecal production and apparent digestibility of nutrients was compared the external indicator LIPE® to the method of total feces collection. The indicator was provided in capsules of 250mg/animal dose for seven days, two days to five days adaptation to perform the collection of feces. The dry matter intake (g/day) showed no difference between the first experiment treatments. The nutrient intake presented statistical differences (P<0.05) for the variable EE (ether extract) not presenting for the other nutrients. In relation to dry matter digestibility, no statistical difference (P>0.05) (820.2, 816.1, 799.6, 794.4 g / kg dry matter) was observed between treatments and also nutrients. The dry matter intake of the second experiment presented a difference (P<0.05) for treatment with mature elephant grass, with the lowest consumption value (973.61 g/kg day). In relation to dry matter digestibility, no statistical difference (P>0.05) (820.2, 816.1, 799.6, 794.4 g/kg dry matter) was observed between treatments and also nutrients. The same behavior was observed for the nutrient intake and for the digestibility of DM (739.1, 650.5, 749.9, 695.5 g/kg dry matter) and nutrients. There was a statistical difference (P<0.05) between the apparent digestibility estimated with LIPE® external indicator for the variables MS and MO (organic matter) for the two experiments in relation to the total collection of feces in all the treatments used. The apparent digestibility of dry matter and nutrients was overestimated when using LIPE® in relation to total fecal collection in the second experiment.

The apparent digestibility of dry matter and nutrients was overestimated when using LIPE® in relation to total fecal collection in the second experiment. Submitted by Mario BC (mario@bc.ufrpe.br) on 2017-02-21T14:09:19Z No. of bitstreams: 1 Marcos Felipe da Silva Souza.pdf: 1392568 bytes, checksum: b63f48487601eec94122d4e0c3e4eee6 (MD5)Made available in DSpace on 2017-02-21T14:09:19Z (GMT).
