Resumo: | Plants are of great importance in the quality of life of the population, being used as food, fuel, clothing, housing, chemicals and medicines. They are often responsible for the prevention and treatment of diseases in various communities, for example in the treatment of infections. However, little of this popular knowledge is scientifically proven, which does not guarantee the safety and effectiveness of the user. In view of this situation, the objective of this work is to compare the chemical profile and antimicrobial potential of medicinal plants commercialized in the city of Recife / PE, with indication for treatment of infections. The initial information was collected in the São José market (Recife / PE) from vendors and / or herders in order to identify the most suitable plants. Three different samples were obtained for each plant, and the crude ethanolic extract was obtained by maceration. Subsequently, the chemical profile of the samples was determined from the UV-Vis, HPLC-DAD, GC-MS and 1H NMR analyzes. Finally, the MIC was verified against yeast fungi and Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria. Analyzes of samples of purple cashew nuts indicated a possible presence of alkaloids, but no compound was present. In the purple peel samples, the UV-Vis analysis indicates the presence of menadione in two samples, while the other analyzes did not characterize any known compounds. Samples of quixaba peel showed presence of saponins, but it was not possible to guarantee the presence of basal acid as described in the literature. For samples of urine leaf there are indications of three flavones, a chacone and a pterocarpano. And in the white nettle root samples the constituents indicated for species were not identified. From the MICs obtained, it was observed that all species have antibacterial potential, but some samples did not demonstrate an antifungal potential. In summary, the chemical profile and the antimicrobial potential presented significant differences among the samples of plants marketed under the same popular name, which does not guarantee the safety and efficacy of the treatment of infections. |

Submitted by Mario BC (mario@bc.ufrpe.br) on 2019-04-03T12:37:07Z No. of bitstreams: 1 Rafaela Souza Silva.pdf: 3017509 bytes, checksum: a103a1c83ac3920bfecdb947fd2eb3a8 (MD5)Made available in DSpace on 2019-04-03T12:37:07Z (GMT).
