Resumo: Comprising about twice the amount of C of the atmosphere and plant biomass compartments. In this context, the present study aimed to determine the carbon stocks in soils under Mata Atlantica State Park Dois Irmãos (PEDI), and chemical and physically characterize the soil of this area. The collections were made inside the Place, one of the areas of study of the Research Programme on biodiversity (PPBio). Composite soil samples were collected by three simple samples of layers 0-5, 5-10, 10-20, 20-30 and 30-50 cm depth of soil, on 16 points, making a total of 80 soil samples. The collection of litter in the forest floor was stocked held on 16 points, with the use of feedback with dimensions of 0.50 x 0.50 m. Soil chemical analysis determined the pH and the availability of the elements: Mg2+, Al3, Na+, K+ and Al+ exchangeable, H+Al, P, S, C organic and N total. In addition, the physical analysis, particle size and density of the soil, for the calculation of carbon stocks. In Burlap, were determined by chemical analysis the values of organic matter; N by ammonia distillation; and the elements P, Ca, Mg, Na, K and S, after digestion nitric perchloric. It was found that the content of nutrients in litterfall (Ca, Mg, K, S and N) is responsible for the maintenance of soil fertility and that of 50-70% of the carbon stock is accumulated in the first 30 cm of soil, influenced by the amount of organic matter in surface, however the contribution of 0-5 cm layer was less relevant because of the sandy texture highlighting the importance of the contribution of clay for protection and maintenance of organic matter in the soil system.

As análises químicas do solo determinaram o pH e a disponibilidade dos elementos: Mg2+, Al3, Na+, K+ e Al+ trocáveis, H+Al, P, S, C orgânico e N total. Submitted by Mario BC (mario@bc.ufrpe.br) on 2016-08-15T15:35:16Z No. of bitstreams: 1 Marilia de Macedo Almeida.pdf: 1574286 bytes, checksum: 9ecc280d0bfae3bf8142507c99cf37b2 (MD5)Made available in DSpace on 2016-08-15T15:35:16Z (GMT).
