Resumo: Abstract This article analyzes the role and demands of the teaching supervisor within the scope of basic education in the education system of the municipality of Mauá / SP. The methodological path involved participant observation, literature review, documentary survey and empirical research. Initially, the elements that circumscribe the origin and historical trajectory of teaching supervision in Mauá. The importance of the performance of teaching supervision with schools is highlighted as a way to monitor and guide the work of the school team. The results also showed administrative, pedagogical and training demands from teaching supervisors, such as: knowledge related to the mediation of administrative and pedagogical work at school; planning actions and establishing goals and knowledge and updating educational legislation.

La metodología involucró observación participante, revisión de literatura, levantamiento de documentos e investigación empírica. Inicialmente, se presentan los elementos que circunscriben el origen y la trayectoria histórica de la supervisión docente, así como las atribuciones legales de los supervisores de la red Mauá. Se destaca la importancia del rol de los supervisores docentes en las escuelas como una forma de monitorear y orientar el trabajo del equipo escolar. Los resultados también mostraron demandas administrativas, pedagógicas y de formación con los supervisores docentes, tales como: conocimientos relacionados con la mediación del trabajo administrativo y pedagógico en la escuela; la planificación de acciones y establecimiento de metas y el conocimiento y actualización de la legislación educativa.O presente artigo analisa a função e as demandas do supervisor de ensino no âmbito da educação básica do sistema de ensino do município de Mauá/SP. A metodologia envolveu observação participante, revisão de literatura, levantamento documental e pesquisa empírica. Apresentam-se, inicialmente, os elementos que circunscrevem a origem e trajetória histórica da supervisão de ensino, bem como as atribuições legais dos supervisores da rede de Mauá. Destaca-se a importância da atuação dos supervisores de ensino junto às escolas como forma de acompanhar e orientar os trabalhos da equipe escolar.
