The focused research analyzes the positive and negative aspects of regulatory assessment, highlighting its formative relevance and its influence on improving learning. Drawing upon theories and studies that explore the theoretical approaches of regulatory assessment, it seeks to answer whether it effectively guides teaching and learning. Divided into five parts, including introduction and theoretical framework, the research employs content analysis to identify indicators of evolution in the regulation of assessment. Notably, the shift from formative assessment to support for learning draws attention, raising questions about its impact on teaching practice. It is concluded that by actively involving teachers and students, the research provides a detailed understanding of regulatory dynamics in assessments, promoting studies of the variability of these processes according to specific characteristics. This reinforces the ongoing importance of investigation in this area and its contribution to a deeper understanding of the assessment landscape.
