Diabetes Mellitus (DM) has become an epidemic physical exercises work on prevention and treatment, improving glycemic control and reducing risk factors. Muscle injuries are related to physical activity, causing functional loss and morphological changes. Non-pharmacological therapies are used in treatment, such as anti-inflammatory drugs and low-power laser therapy (LBP). However little is known about the recovery of post-injury muscle tissue in DM. Aim was to evaluate the recovery of histological, morphometric and functional aspects after traumatic muscle injury in diabetic rats. A single trauma to the right pelvic limb was performed by a mini-guillotine. The irradiation was in the trauma region, 1 hour post induction of the lesion, with energy of 3 J, for 30s. Diclofenac was applied 1 hour post-injury at a dose of 11.6 mg g -1 topically; When applied together the irradiation occurred five minutes before the application of the drug. The Functional Sciatic Index (ISF) evaluated gait functionality, histological and morphometric analyzes of muscle tissue; At times 06, 12 and 24 hours. Results were expressed as means ± SEM, Shapiro Wilk tested for normality, ANOVA, followed by the Tukey test for multiple comparisons. Considering P <0.05. Results: In the ISF at 12 hours, improvement of the injured groups was observed when compared to the healthy group and diabetes group with p <0.01. In 24 hours, lesion + laser and laser + diclofenac lesion showed less difficulty in ambulation, compared to the lesion and lesion + diclofenac groups with p <0.05 and p <0.01. With 48 hours, all the injured improved. It was not possible to evaluate the morphometric aspects at 06 hours. At 12 and 24 hours, all treated groups improved over the untreated lesion group. In the histological aspects, they showed that laser therapy did not prevent the appearance of typical signs of injury, but in the group treated with LBP, when compared to the others a reduction of the areas and signs of the tissue alterations was apparent. It was concluded that in relation to the functionality of gait with 12 and 24 hours; LBP associated with diclofenac was effective in improving the gait pattern, different from that expected in our histological and morphometric analyzes at 06, 12 and 24 hours after lesion induction, the association of LBP with diclofenac did not present the best Results
