Resumo: The temporomandibular joint disorders (TMD), reach several clinical problems which involve the masticatory muscles, the temporomandibular joint (TMJ) and the associated structures. Thereby, the aim of the present study was to analyze the association of the cervical mobility, pressure pain threshold (PPT) and psychosocial factors in university students without TMD and that show different kinds of TMD without self report of pain. It was used the questionnaire from RDC/TMD (Research Diagnostic Criteria for Temporomandibular Disorders) axis I and II for TMD diagnosis, fleximeter to evaluate de cervical mobility, algometer to evaluate the PPT, IDATE questionnaire and WHOQOL-bref to evaluate anxiety and quality of life, respectively. From 126 university students who were part of the sample, 79 presented some kind of TMD; from these, 22 of them with both TMD (muscular TMD associated to some joint TMD); 49 presented only joint TMD and 8 presented only muscular TMD; while 47 university students did not presented any kind of TMD, as part of the control group (CG). None of the analyzes identified a statistically significant difference (p≥0,05) when analyzed only to the joint TMD compared to the CG. The self report of wakeful bruxism associated with sleep (both bruxism) showed a higher frequency (46%) in the group with TMD. It was not found a significant difference between the study group (SG) and the CG, the presence of anxiety (p≥0,05), depression (p≥0,05) and quality of life (p≥0,05). The TMD presence, without self report of pain, presented a lower PPT in the right masseter masticatory muscle (p=0,013). However, the muscular TMD associated to the joint (both TMD), inferred to the PPT, being even smaller in the right masseter masticatory muscle (p=0,007) and in the right sternocleidomastoid (SCM) cervical muscle (p=0,0006) and left (p=0,024); these, also showed a lower amplitude of cervical motion to a left side inclination (p=0,039) and a greater quantity of parafunctional habits (p=0,0004), when compared to the CG.
