Resumo: Objective: This study aimed to identify and compare the signs and symptoms of postoperative blepharoplasty (pain, hematoma, edema and fibrosis) in the pre-and postphysical therapy and to assess satisfaction in pre-and post-surgical and physical therapy . Methodology: There were 30 patients who underwent blepharoplasty, 20 patients were treated group, who received physical therapy intervention and 10 control group patients who underwent the same surgical procedure but received no intervention Fisioterapia.Todos signed a consent form. The treated group was assessed at day 15 postoperatively and underwent five sessions of physical therapy twice a week for forty minutes at the last meeting were reviewed (30 th day after surgery). The control group was assessed and reassessed in the same period. Results: 30 subjects studied had a mean age of 61.2 ± 8.99 years, 26 females and 4 males. As the hematoma in the group treated at an early stage 55% of subjects had no hematoma and 30% had slight bruising. In the control group 50% of subjects had no hematoma and 50% had slight bruising. But in the late stage none of the subjects treated and control group had hematoma. As for the pain of the group attended 90% reported no pain, whereas in the control group all subjects did not feel any pain. In the evaluation of edema of the group treated 40% subjects had mild edema and 30% moderate edema. After physical therapy, none of the subjects experienced edema. In the control group at day 15 post-operatively 40% of subjects had mild edema and 50% moderate edema, at 30 days post-operatively 90% of patients remained with mild swelling. Referring to the levels of fibrosis in the group treated 65% of subjects had two levels of fibrosis. After physical therapy 95% of subjects had zero level of fibrosis. In the control group at day 15 postoperatively 40% of individuals had levels of 2 fibrosis. By day 30 post-operatively 70% of individuals began to show two levels of fibrosis. In the interview to identify issues of relevance to the degree of satisfaction with the eyelids before and after surgery in the group treated 75% were dissatisfied, and after surgery with physical therapy care of 85% were very satisfied. Control group 70% were very dissatisfied, the final evaluation even without the assistance of physical therapy all patients (100%) were very satisfied with the result. Conclusion: The surgical technique of blepharoplasty had a significant bearing on the satisfaction of self-esteem and quality improvement in functional subjects. Signs and symptoms resulting from post-operative when it was identified that related to pain and bruising interference of physiotherapy was not remarkable. Studied because the surgical technique does not cause pain and bruising subsides naturally But when it comes to edema and fibrosis physiotherapy significance. So noted the importance of the indication of post-operative physiotherapy in plastic surgery who have signs and symptoms covered in this study.

Made available in DSpace on 2015-10-20T18:56:06Z (GMT).
