Resumo: This work studies an urban process which is currently occurring in some areas around São Paulo’s city centre. The way real estate development operates over these places suggests a pressure over an urban frontier. Among the patterns that emerged through the analysis of urban dynamics of these areas, it was possible to identify a process of social homogenization. In response to this, it was thought of an alternative way of proceeding with central areas, based on keeping social and cultural diversity in these neighbourhoods.
