Resumo: The introduction of technological innovations and the integration of the stakeholders of the productive chain are important for the advancement of the construction industry. In this context, Building Information Modelling (BIM) and Modular Coordination are potential tools to make the productive process more rational and sustainable. This study aims to identify the contributions of BIM to the application of Modular Coordination principles in building components based on the modeling of the E1 Building at the School of Engineeringof the University of São Paulo in São Carlos/SP. Therefore, the research was structured in five steps: 1. Understanding the theme, with the Literature Review and Documentary Analysis of the E1 building project; 2. Field survey, by means of a visit to the building; 3. Window modeling in BIM software; 4. Evaluation of the model, with verification of the principles of Modular Coordination; 5. Systematization of results and conclusions. From this experience, it was verified that BIM allows the development of modular components design with greater efficiency and reliability, due to factors such as increased information visualization and interference verification, high dimensional precision modeling and automation of the distribution of the components.
