Right to the city for indigenous peoples from the perspective of the right to health: an integrative review

Social discrimination and society's structural prejudice against the culturally different are root reasons for the marginalization of indigenous people in cities. Furthermore, the search for systematized and scientific information can contribute to recommending territorial and health policies to improve access to indigenous citizen rights in cities. The objective of this study was to analyze the scientific literature that addresses the right to the city for indigenous peoples in the city from the perspective of the right to health. It was a integrative literature review study on the right to the city by native peoples in accessing health services. The method has used PICo strategy. Searches were carried out in five databases, totaling 15 articles within the selection criteria used. It was observed that cities are international and social determinations that sustain a structure of historical-social inequity and make ethnic groups vulnerable to precarious social opportunities and access to health services. We conclude in this study that the right to the city from the perspective of the use of health services by urban indigenous people is a topic of sociocultural and historical-symbolic resistance, as well as a scientific agenda of global interest, revealing a necessary agenda for social, human and fairer development.
