Resumo: The creative and critical appropriation of the urban territory of art considers the population that lives in substandard conditions of habitability, tenements and occupations of empty buildings of the his- toric centre, on the one hand, and the slums, on the other. This action shows a new impetus to the notion of public procedure and the possibility of emergence of new potential forms of local demo-cracies. This is the context in which one wants to ask the equation society- citizenship in the town in São Paulo and remark the intricate relationship between ruins and virtues in the metropolis for the project of architecture and the city.
