Resumo: Immunoperoxidase is a well known pathology technique used all over the world in the identification of several cell antigens, which can be used to identify the origin of the cell, to classify pathologies, to guide treatments, etc. Blood group antigens are present in the human body cells and can be identified by this technique. The case being studied refers to the finding of liver-like animal material similar in a bar. Suspecting cannibalism, police authorities requested analysis of the material to confirm the facts. By using the immunoperoxidase technique, the authors found evidences that helped to elucidate the case proving that the material was humans tissue. Upon furhter investigation, a rare case of cannibalism was confirmed.
