Resumo: The dentistry in occupational health isn't much implement, and although it's important, it isn't participating of worker health programs nowadays. The authors suggest an occupational dentistry program in partnership with occupational medicine for improving the life quality. The occupational dentistry program will permit to make an epidemiological statistical investigation in dentistry and the influence of the labour environment in the oral cavity. With these datum will be possible to recommend improvement and/or environment control with standart of individual or general security. The statistical investigation will permit to know the size of dental service for the company and how to stablish a dental accord to treatment workers and their dependents. Throught institutional campaigns it will be possible to give dental specifical orientation for pregnants and children in order to stablish preventive dentistry actions. The occupational surgeon dentistry has as a priority the prevention of the oral diseases to advise the curative dentistry about all curative activities.

Baseadas na atual situação dessa parea, as autoras propõem um programa de atuação do cirurgião-dentista em parceria com a Medicina do Trabalho, uma vez que o objetivo final é a melhoria da qualidade de vida. A implementação de um Programa Odontológico permitirá um levantamento das condições de saúde bucal, levantamentos estatísticos, estudos de prevalência e, acima de tudo, um estudo mais aprofundado da ação do ambiente laboral na cavidade bucal. Baseando-se no estudo da prevalência e do conhecimento mais detalhado das doenças bucais decorrentes da ação do ambiente de trabalho, será possível propor melhoria e/ou controle ambiental, com medidas de proteção coletiva e/ou individual. Os levantamentos estatísticos permitirão um dimensionamento ideal para o serviço odontológico dentro da empresa, bem como o estabelecimento de convênios para atendimento de funcionários e dependentes. Através de campanhas institucionais, ou não, será possível a orientação específica para gestantes e dependentes menores, bem como o estabelecimento de medidas profiláticas e preventivas. A prioridade do cirurgião-dentista do trabalho é a prevenção de doenças bucais, encaminhando para a Odontologia Assistencial toda e qualquer atividade curativa.Universidade de São Paulo.
