Study of the Perception of Agricultural Science Researchers about Open Access

Resumo: This study aims to present elements that can support a reflection on the relationship between open access and scholarly communication through the perception of researchers. Therefore, set up a clipping in Agricultural Sciences, which is an area of intense scientific research and that Brazil stands out globally in terms of publishing. This is a qualitative study, which used, as a methodological resource, the application of semi-structured interviews with a group of researchers in this field. The interviews were aimed to obtain data that could demonstrate the function of scientific publication in the careers of researchers and how elements associated with visibility, acknowledgment, acquiring prestigie, among others among other factors, relate to open access. It was observed that there is an increasing interest from researchers publish in journals already established and well evaluated. The publication in open access journals do not have a significant role on the choices of researchers. Even when researchers publish in open access, they are guided by the prestige and visibility of the jornal.

Even when researchers publish in open access, they are guided by the prestige and visibility of the jornal.Este estudo busca apresentar elementos que possam subsidiar uma reflexão acerca da relação entre acesso aberto e comunicação na ciência a partir da percepção de pesquisadores. Para tanto, estabeleceu-se um recorte nas Ciências Agrárias, que constitui uma área de pesquisa de intensa produção científica e na qual o Brasil se destaca mundialmente em termos de publicação. Esta é uma pesquisa qualitativa, em que se utilizou, como recurso metodológico, a aplicação de entrevistas semiestruturadas com um grupo de pesquisadores da referida área. As entrevistas tiveram como propósito obter dados que pudessem demonstrar a função da publicação científica na carreira dos pesquisadores e como elementos associados à visibilidade, reconhecimento, obtenção de prestígio, entre outros, se relacionam com o acesso aberto. Observou-se que há um interesse dos pesquisadores em publicar nos periódicos já estabelecidos e bem avaliados. A publicação em canais de acesso aberto não possui um peso significativo nas escolhas dos pesquisadores. Mesmo quando os pesquisadores publicam em acesso aberto, eles são guiados pelo prestígio e visibilidade do periódico.Universidade de São Paulo.
