Scientific output and publications of scientific interest from the professors of the Faculdade de Veterinária of the UFRGS: a comparative approach

Resumo: With the contribution of bibliometrics, it analyzes the scientific output and publications of scientific interest to the public authored by professors of the Faculdade de Veterinária of the Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Sul (UFRGS), registered in the university library catalog (SABi), regarding the following indicators: distribution, productivity of the departments, and main subjects. The results indicate a significant difference in the number of scientific articles and scientific publications produced by the Faculdade de Veterinária; the growth of publications of public interest in the period 2013-2016 and scientific production from the 2000s; the departments of Medicina Veterinária Preventiva and Patologia Clínica Veterinária as the most productive in publications of scientific dissemination and scientific articles, respectively; and the thematic affinity of scientific dissemination publications with the Programa de Pós-Graduação em Alimentos de Origem Animal (PPGAOA) and the scientific production with the Programa de Pós-Graduação em Ciências Veterinárias (PPGCV) and the Programa de Pós-Graduação em Medicina Animal: Equinos (PPGMAE). It concludes that the professors scientific publications of the Faculdade de Veterinária of the UFRGS approach subjects related to the profile of the PPGAOA, while the scientific articles deal with themes that are in line with the research lines of the PPGCV and PPGMAE, which may reflect the influence of the recommendations from the area documents of the Avaliação do Sistema Nacional de Pós-Graduação from CAPES.

Os resultados indicam uma diferença significativa na quantidade de artigos científicos e de publicações de divulgação científica produzidos pela Faculdade de Veterinária; o crescimento das publicações de divulgação científica no período de 2013-2016 e da produção científica a partir dos anos 2000; os departamentos de Medicina Veterinária Preventiva e Patologia Clínica Veterinária como os mais produtivos em publicações de divulgação científica e artigos científicos, respectivamente; e a afinidade temática das publicações de divulgação científica com o Programa de Pós-Graduação em Alimentos de Origem Animal (PPGAOA) e da produção científica com os Programas de Pós-Graduação em Ciências Veterinárias (PPGCV) e Medicina Animal: Equinos (PPGMAE). Conclui que as publicações de divulgação científica dos docentes da Faculdade de Veterinária da UFRGS abordam assuntos relacionados ao perfil do PPGAOA, enquanto os artigos científicos tratam de temas condizentes com as linhas de pesquisa dos programas PPGCV e PPGMAE, o que pode refletir a influência das recomendações dos documentos de área da Avaliação do Sistema Nacional de Pós-Graduação da CAPES.Universidade de São Paulo.
