Resumo: Based on a survey of 633 economists affiliated with the Corecon-SP, we seek to verify if the prestige of the college influences career success, as measured by the wage level and the hierarchical position in three moments along the career. We find that college prestige affects positively on entry into the labor market, but that this influence decreases along the way. An equally important dimension is the quality of the student throughout the course. Public institutions seem to have larger influence in career success than private schools.

Foram considerados o nível salarial e a posição hierárquica do cargo em três momentos da carreira. As conclusões indicam que o prestígio da faculdade impacta positivamente a entrada no mercado de trabalho nas três dimensões abordadas, mas que essa influência diminui ao longo da carreira. Dimensão igualmente importante é a qualidade do aluno ao longo do curso.
