Resumo: The objective of this study is to analyze the evolution of a Child Multidimensional Poverty Index for the Federative Units of Brazil in 1998, 2003 and 2008. For that, the microdata from the National Household Sample Survey (PNAD) - Health Supplement and the Alkire-Foster method were used, considering the dimensions of education, health and standard of living. The results showed that child poverty decreased from 1998 to 2008 in almost all states in Brazil. In the spatial analysis, it was observed that the highest indexes were located in the North and Northeast regions, portraying a character of regional perpetuation of child poverty.
