Resumo: As autoras realizaram um levantamento com auxiliares, atendentes de enfermagem e pacientes, de unidades de clínicas médicas e cirúrgicas de dois hospitais estatais, para verificar se a percepção dos mesmos sobre o papel do enfermeiro sofre modificação, quando na instituição é adotado um planejamento para implementação da assistência de enfermagem.
