Resumo: This article reflects upon the humanization of health care, the demand for which is growing. It involves several complex and interdependent dimensions. The professional's subjective perspective and the interpersonal relationship are discussed and shown to be important factors in the humanization of health care. The necessity of professional's self-awareness and the awareness of their defenses are emphasized since they are considered to be important for the creation of an real encounter between professionals and patients. These topics are essential for the humanization and promotion of health care.

Ella involucra innúmeras dimensiones que son complejas y mutuamente influenciables. Aspectos relativos a la esfera subjetiva del profesional y a la relación interpersonal son discutidos y evidenciados como componentes esenciales de la humanización del cuidado. Se resalta las necesidades de autoconocimiento de los profesionales y de toma de conciencia respecto a sus resistencias pues éstas son importantes para la efectividad del verdadero encuentro de los profesionales con sus clientes.Este artigo faz uma reflexão sobre a humanização da assistência à saúde, que é uma demanda crescente da atualidade. Ela envolve inúmeras dimensões que são complexas e mutuamente influenciáveis. Aspectos relativos à esfera subjetiva do profissional e do relacionamento interpessoal são discutidos e evidenciados como componentes essenciais da humanização do cuidado. São ressaltadas as necessidades de auto-conhecimento dos profissionais e de consciência de suas resistências pois estas são importantes para a efetivação do verdadeiro encontro dos profissionais com seus clientes.Universidade de São Paulo.
