Modern brazilian landscaping in the publications of Acrópole magazine (1938-1971)

Resumo: This article deals with landscape architects and landscapers whose projects and texts were published in the Acrópole Magazine between May 1938 and December 1971 (period in which the magazine was active, with monthly publication of volumes), covering in particular the landscape production of Roberto Coelho Cardozo, Miranda Martinelli Magnoli, Rosa Grena Kliass, Waldemar Cordeiro and Roberto Burle Marx – important names in the national landscape architecture. It is innovative because it demonstrates that in a magazine devoted primarily to the design of the building it is possible to find relevant data on the modern production of landscaping in Brazil. The objective of this article is to present an analysis of the publications regarding this production. Thus, a survey was carried out using the term “llandscaping” and other terms related to this disciplinary field, with the selection of articles, texts and images, which comprised the object of study of this research, whose result is now presented.

É inovador por demonstrar que em uma revista dedicada primordialmente ao projeto do edifício é possível encontrar dados relevantes sobre a produção moderna do paisagismo no Brasil. O objetivo deste artigo é apresentar uma análise das publicações concernentes a essa produção. Assim, foi realizado um levantamento a partir do termo “paisagismo” e de outros termos relacionados a esse campo disciplinar, com a seleção de artigos, textos e imagens, os quais compuseram o objeto de estudo desta pesquisa, cujo resultado ora se apresenta.Universidade de São Paulo.
