Resumo: The article presents the literary critic Marcel Reich-Ranicki and tries to explain his extraordinary success in Germany. It highlights some qualities of his criticism as well as his special relation to mass media and entertainment. Finally, by going into details of his biography, the text surveys the relation of the Polish-born Jewish critic with Germany and German culture.
