Resumo: | The research presented in this article aimed to investigate the presence of the coloniality of language in German teaching practices for Brazilian learners, more specifically for learners who come from immigration areas with a history of contact with German-Brazilian languages. Brazilian teachers, both already working and still in initial training, were invited to reflect together, in online sessions that were recorded and transcribed, about how they would proceed if they were asked for private German classes by a student with this kind of background. In their enunciations, signs of submission or subversion to the coloniality of language were identified. The introduction summarizes the problem that led to the investigation. The history of German teaching in Brazil is then revisited, and excerpts of the participants’ enunciations, grouped under themes, are cited and commented. The final considerations argue that, on the one hand, some of the teachers demonstrate a posture of submission to the coloniality of language, without realizing that they reproduce contradictory discourses. On the other hand, some of them seem willing to subvert coloniality in their teaching practice. It is concluded that overcoming the colonial mentality works as a starting point for a critical Language Education in German for Brazilian learners. |

It is concluded that overcoming the colonial mentality works as a starting point for a critical Language Education in German for Brazilian learners.A pesquisa apresentada neste artigo teve como objetivo investigar a presença da colonialidade linguística nas práticas de ensino de alemão para brasileiros, mais especificamente para os aprendizes que vêm de um histórico de contato com línguas teuto-brasileiras presentes em regiões de imigração. Professores brasileiros já atuantes ou ainda em formação inicial foram convidados a refletir em conjunto, em sessões online que foram gravadas e transcritas, sobre o que fariam caso fossem procurados para aulas particulares por um aluno com esse histórico. Em seus discursos, foram mapeados os indícios de uma postura de submissão à colonialidade linguística, ou de subversão dessa lógica. A introdução resume o problema que motivou a investigação. A seguir, revisita-se o histórico do ensino de alemão no Brasil, e são citados e comentados trechos de falas dos professores participantes da pesquisa, subdivididos por temas. As considerações finais argumentam que parte dos professores demonstra uma postura de submissão à colonialidade linguística, sem dar-se conta de que reproduz discursos contraditórios, mas que alguns deles parecem dispostos a subverter a colonialidade em sua prática docente. Defende-se que a superação da mentalidade colonial funcione como ponto de partida para uma Educação Linguística crítica em alemão para o aprendiz brasileiro.Universidade de São Paulo.
