Resumo: The article analyzes the short story “Levedando a ilha…” (1962), by Maria Margarida Mascarenhas, in the methodological perspective of the Bakhtin Circle, defending the idea of there being allegories related to the Cape Verdean context. For analysis, we adopted the definition of allegory proposed by Lausberg, metaphor that consists of replacing the thought in question with another, linking them in a relationship of similarity. As a result, we present some elements – authorship, space, heroine composition and plot moments - that can be interpreted as analogies of geography, the formation of society and the struggle for independence of the archipelago.

Para análise, adotamos a definição de alegoria proposta por Lausberg, metáfora que consiste na substituição do pensamento em causa, por outro, ligando-os uma relação de semelhança. Como resultado, apresentamos alguns elementos – autoria, espaço, composição da heroína e momentos do enredo - que podem ser interpretados como analogias da geografia, da formação da sociedade e da luta pela independência do arquipélago.
