Resumo: The cardosean trilogy refers to the set of the first works by Cardoso, Crônica de uma travessia: a época do ai-dik-funam (1997), Olhos de coruja, olhos de gato bravo (2001) and A última morte do coronel Santiago (2003) that are connected to History of Timor-Leste and are objects of its study. Luís Cardoso writes about the history of his country in his novels as an initial phase of textual construction, criticizing colonialism, especially a disgraced policy of Indonesia, expressing a wider history of a world and a subject without present and discontinuous time, from the time of transit, the recognition of differences, past and present, post-colony migration, a history of being in exile. His thinking as author-narrator was a subjective adventure, which inwardly shows a articulation of cultural differences, how much it is an important subsidy for an elaboration of what Homi Bhabha calls “subjective strategies” (BHABHA, 1998, p.20) both individuals as well as collective ones.
