Brazilian Papers in American Pages During the Brazilian Military Regime

Resumo: This article aims to present how the Brazilian media outlets appeared in the coverage of the main international newspapers and news agencies that worked in the country during the Brazilian Military Regime (1964-1985). With this historiographic effort, this research allows studies about: the distinctions between methods of censorship applied to national and international media outlets; the evolution in the changes of Brazilian and American foreign policies into the 21 years of the dictatorship, reflected in transnational journalism; the development of Brazilian national media and its political influence, including the forced alterations on its journalistic reality by the Cold War logics. These objectives wish to allow a multidisciplinary and transnational research.

These objectives wish to allow a multidisciplinary and transnational research.Este artigo visa apresentar como os veículos de mídia brasileiros apareceram na cobertura dos principais jornais e agências de notícias internacionais que trabalharam no país durante os anos do Regime Militar (1964-1985). Com este trabalho historiográfico, a pesquisa apresentada permite que se ampliem estudos sobre: as distinções entre os métodos de censura aplicados a veículos nacionais e internacionais; o decorrer das mudanças nas políticas externas brasileiras e estadunidenses ao longo dos 21 anos de ditadura, refletidas no jornalismo transnacional; a evolução midiática nacional e sua influência política, considerando as alterações no modelo jornalístico, outorgadas pela realidade da Guerra Fria.
