Resumo: In Brazil, the historiography of journalism in education is incomplete. Through a bibliographical review and documentary research, this work intends to highlight the lines of force that gave the field its current configurations. Focusing the national print media, the scope encompasses pioneering experiences in the first half of the 20th century, the expansion of publishing in newspapers, seasonal downsizing cycles, the emergence of magazines for teachers, the collapse of publications in the 2010s and the emergence of new non-journalistic actors such as producers of information, analysis and opinion on education. The discontinuities of its trajectory are evident, as well as its weak autonomy in the face of external pressures from the fields of politics and economics and its fragility as an institution that forms dispositions of professional habitus.
