Rehab work as proposed intervention in occupational therapy after renal transplantation

Introduction: Kidney transplantation enables the minimization of the limitations imposed by dialysis and return or entry into productive activity. However, only a small percentage of patients are restored to working activity. Objective: To describe the proposed activities of Occupational Therapy (OT) focused on vocational rehabilitation in Ambulatory Post-Renal Transplantation at a University Hospital. Methodologicalprocedures: experience report about the performance of the OT with the kidney transplant patients. For such protocols were used and reports OT evaluation sheets beyond occupational therapy applied to these patients. Data collection was conducted in the period June to December 2011. Results: The commitment of the areas of occupational performance in renal patients is installed during the dialysis and linger after the kidney transplant. The issue of maintenance, entry or return to work still appears incipiently in the pre-transplant. Social, economic, psychological and clinical infl uencing adherence to vocational rehabilitation. Conclusion: The success of the actions of OT may make kidney transplants more productive and reintegrated into society by reducing the social cost of their treatment .
