Resumo: O presente artigo investiga uma pequena parte dos possíveis atravessamentos e implicações da função autor como conceituada por Michel Foucault em O que é um Autor?, conferência pronunciada em 1969. Aborda-se sobretudo a organização do campo da arquitetura, sua produção teórica, sua prática projetual e as mudanças que ocorreram ao longo da segunda metade do século XX; com especial atenção para o debate entre correntes historicistas e regionalistas que propunham o abandono dos postulados modernistas, de um lado, e correntes que propunham a retomada crítica desses postulados, de outro.
