Resumo: Many of the aspects that involve the writing of scientific texts are implied, so that novice researchers face difficulties in understanding the expectations surrounding the production of such texts. In the quest to balance originality and conformity, compliance with formal rules is facilitated by its standardization, while other aspects related to compliance are not. Thus, this work seeks to contribute to clarifying the role of the literature review in the construction of a scientific argument. The text also presents a suggested structure for the literature review based on the best practices observed in the literature, and a writing strategy for achieving such a structure.

Na busca por equilibrar originalidade e conformidade, o atendimento às regras formais é facilitado pela sua normatização, enquanto outros aspectos relacionados à conformidade não o são. Assim, este ensaio busca contribuir com o esclarecimento do papel da seção de estudos anteriores na construção de um argumento científico. O texto também apresenta uma sugestão de estrutura para a seção de estudos anteriores baseada nas melhores práticas observadas na literatura, e uma estratégia de redação para a consecução de tal estrutura.Universidade de São Paulo.
