Chronicle of a Summer: cinema as a sociological experience

Resumo: This article proposes to discuss the topicality of the method developed by the French thinker Edgar Morin (1921-) in the 1960s, coined as sociology of the present. Our hypothesis is that the sociology of the present allows for a multidimensional approach to reality, which is suitable to analyze increasingly complex social phenomena. As reference, we take two specific scenarios developed by the author in the works Commune en France: la métamorphose de Plozévet (1967) and Chronicle of a summer (1961). We thus conclude that the central notions of crisis and event, as highlighted by the author, become increasingly more operative and reflexive, just as the method of phenomenological observation, interview and intervention.

Nossa hipótese é que a sociologia do presente é uma via de abordagem multidimensional da realidade, adequada para analisar fenômenos sociais cada vez mais complexos. Tomamos como referências dois cenários específicos trabalhados pelo autor nas obras Commune en France: la métamorphose de Plozévet (1967) e Crônica de um verão (1961). A partir daí concluímos que as noções centrais de crise e acontecimento, destacadas pelo autor, tornam-se cada dia mais operativas e reflexivas, assim como o método de observação fenomenográfica, entrevista e intervenção.Universidade de São Paulo.
