Resumo: It highlights the contribution of Michèle Mattelart in the context of the intellectual history of the communication field in Latin America as the genealogies of the area have underestimated the role and the importance of women researchers. The methodological approach intends to make memory, building a path that transits between intellectual biography and the history of research in communication, through a feminist way of thinking that affirms its subjective and situated dimension (Margareth Rago, 2019). Considering such aspects, it is recovered key moments in her intellectual itinerary, especially the one focused on the articulations between communication and gender studies where she was a forerunner in Latin America.

A via metodológica pretende fazer memória, construindo um percurso que transita entre a biografia intelectual e a história da pesquisa em comunicação, mediante um modo de pensar feminista que afirma sua  dimensão subjetiva e situada (Margareth Rago, 2019). Considerando essas particularidades, recupera-se momentos-chave do seu itinerário intelectual, sobretudo, daquele focalizado nas articulações entre comunicação e questões de gênero onde foi precursora na América Latina.  Universidade de São Paulo.
